Senior Wetland Scientist

Raedeke Associates, Inc. is looking to hire a Senior Level Wetland Scientist.  We are a small, employee-owned Environmental Consulting firm offering ecological and biological services in the Pacific Northwest for the last 45 years.  Our office is in the Northgate area of Seattle.  The position is non-exempt hourly with a flexible work schedule. We have a casual office environment and offer free parking with easy access to many local services.

Summary of Duties

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to manage projects, scheduling, and field collaboration with other team members, and participate in all aspects of wetland assessments, including wetland delineations, wetland ratings, data analysis, wetland mitigation and monitoring, permitting, report preparation and editing.

Desired Qualifications

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in plant ecology, environmental science, biology, soil sciences, or closely related fields

• Certification as a Senior Professional Wetland Scientist (SPWS) or Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) through the Society of Wetland Scientists

• Minimum 15 years of experience in wetland delineation and assessments

• Demonstrated project management experience, proposal writing, and budgeting

• Completion of the University of Washington Wetland Certification or a similar program is strongly preferred

• Knowledge of Washington State SEPA and regional wetland regulations

• Marine and Freshwater wetland mitigation planning, design, implementation, and monitoring experience

• USACOE Clean Water Act Section 404/401 wetland, streams, and related federal, state, and local environmental permitting experience in the Pacific Northwest (particularly Washington state)

• Experience with invasive species management

• Training and experience with the current Washington Department of Ecology (WDOE) 2014 Wetland Rating System and credit-debit analysis method for calculating mitigation requirements

• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and ESRI ArcGIS

• Wildlife ecology and fisheries, T&E species training, experience, and certifications a plus

• Valid driver’s license

• Construction work-site experience

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage, develop, and maintain long-lasting relationships with clients, colleagues, stakeholders, and team members

• Mutual interest in both personal and company growth

• Ability to facilitate and understand strategic business development plans, company initiatives, the importance of collaboration and in-house staff mentorship, and maintaining client relationships

• Ability to manage field crews and provide mentorship for field staff

Compensation

• Wage is $55 – $70 per hour, depending on qualifications
